SPOT.ph Roadtest: Is Starbucks' Pumpkin Spice Cream Cold Brew Worth the Excitement?

(SPOT.ph) We may not have autumn in the Philippines, but that didn't stop Starbucks from bringing their pumpkin spice drinks to our shores—and boy, are we happy they did. Aside from their famous pumpkin spice lattes, the coffee shop has also brought in the Pumpkin Spice Cream Cold Brew, a drink that was introduced in America in 2019.

The Pumpkin Spice Cream Cold Brew is said to have Starbucks' classic cold brew coffee with real pumpkin and sweetened vanilla syrup, topped with a light pumpkin-flavored cream cold foam and a dusting of pumpkin spice—and as pumpkin spice latte fans ourselves, we just had to try it out. We proceeded to order the drink for delivery through GrabFood. How did it fare?

Price and availability: In-store, the Pumpkin Spice Cream Cold Brew goes for P190 for a Tall serving, P205 for a Grande serving, and P220 for a Venti serving. If you order through GrabFood, the Tall serving is P210, the Grande is P225, and the Venti is P240. The drink will only be available for a limited time.

Best for: Fans of the pumpkin-spice flavor profile who want a stronger coffee punch.

Best with: It's great on its own, but we imagine it tasting great with one of Starbucks' savory baked goods, like the Sausage Roll (P130).

The cream cold foam and cold brew inevitably got mixed together during transport in the drink we ordered for delivery.

Tastes like: The signature pumpkin-spice taste that brings to mind the holidays is there, but the dominant flavor is really Starbucks' smooth, well-rounded cold brew. If you've had Starbucks' regular Pumpkin Spice Latte and felt it could use more coffee, you'll want to give this drink a try. It's also thankfully not too sweet.

Manage your expectations: Judging from the official product photos, this drink is meant to have the cold brew at the bottom and the cream cold foam on top, the same way a Caramel Machiatto usually flaunts a faint line between coffee and milk. But—perhaps because we ordered for delivery, and the drink got shaken in transit—our drink's components were already mixed together when it arrived, not unlike any other iced latte. We're guessing it's due to this that the pumpkin-spice flavors tend to get overshadowed by the coffee.

Yay or nay: It's still a yay for us, and we happily finished our drink with zero regrets.
