Get Excited: Mochiko Is Back With Their Mochi Ice Cream
(SPOT.ph) Mochi filled with bean paste is a timeless treat, but we've gotta commend whoever came up with the idea of filling it with ice cream—chewy rice cake plus cold and indulgent ice cream make for a surprising match made in heaven. Locally, one brand that offered the treat was Mochiko, a Mercato Centrale favorite that sold Mochi Ice Cream in flavors that ranged from strawberry and chocolate to green tea, cookie dough, and even red velvet. While they became inactive for a number of years, the good news is that they're back—and you can get their specialties delivered.
Mochiko does not currently have a physical store, but they'll be doing deliveries to certain areas of Manila—you'll want to keep your eyes on their social media pages for announcements. Right now, they're taking orders for delivery to Makati on October 6 through the order form linked here. Slots are limited, so place your orders while you can!
Their Mochi Ice Cream is currently available in boxes of six for P540 each. You can't go wrong with the Classic Box with two pieces each of their Strawberry, Chocolate, and Caramel Mochi Ice Cream. If you love traditional Japanese flavors, go for the Japanese Box with two pieces each of Green Tea, Black Sesame, and Azuki Mochi flavors. Looking to go out of your comfort zone? Try the Keki Box, which has two pieces each of the Red Velvet, Cereal Milk, and Cookie Dough variants. You can also get boxes with six pieces of just one flavor. Note that there's a minimum order of two boxes and maximum order of four boxes.
Mochiko is a homegrown Mochi Ice Cream brand that was established in 2010.
