(SPOT.ph) We're sure you've heard of—and tried—Wildflour's Salted Chocolate Cake. It's been a constant on our many Top 10 Chocolate Cake lists, thanks to its genuine chocolate flavor and welcome hint of sea salt. It remains one of our favorites to this day, for sure, but there are times when we crave something a little more classic. Guess what: they make yet another kind of chocolate cake—one that's more on the no-frills, homey side, just like what grandma used to make. It's called the Old-Fashioned Chocolate Cake, and you've got to add it to your must-order list whenever you're dining at Wildflour!

The Old-Fashioned Chocolate Cake (P1,200/mini cake, P1,900/whole cake) is as its name says—Wildflour's take on the old-fashioned style of chocolate cake, with layers of chocolate cake, a coffee-custard filling, and silky chocolate fudge frosting. Don't let its seeming simplicity fool you: this is one excellent rendition. It's got an especially deep and dark chocolate flavor and uber-moist cake base with an open, fluffy crumb, and the coffee custard adds just enough moisture and depth to bring out the flavor of the chocolate. This is a great example of a classic done well; one that we believe will stand the test of time.
